Starkey’s Fruit Ltd

Sir John Starkey’s grandfather started growing fruit at Norwood Park in 1910, planting Bramley apples in the home town of the original Bramley tree. Soft fruit production began 50 years ago and today, under the management of Stephen Hobbs, it is the mainstay of the fruit growing business, producing around 750 tonnes of strawberries, raspberries and blackberries along with around 200 tonnes of apples. Nottinghamshire doesn’t lend itself to earliness but the fruit benefits from cooler summer temperatures.
